Knowing what people need and want is the key to understanding them. And if you can understand them, you can influence them and impact their lives in a positive way.
Listed are five things about understanding people: Everybody Wants to Be SomebodyThere isn't a person in the world who doesn't have the desire to be someone, to have significance. Even the least ambitious and unassuming person wants to be regarded highly by others. Once that piece of information becomes a part of your everyday thinking, you'll gain incredible insight into why people do the things they do. And if you treat every person you meet as if he or she was the most important person in the world, you'll communicate that he or she is somebody - to you. Recommend this article... |

WRITTEN IN PRISON, 1662. PUBLISHED, 1663. Prayer is a command of God, and is to be practiced both in public and in private; yes, such a command brings those that have the spirit of prayer, into great intimacy with God; and the prevailing prayer, will receive great things from God.
"We do not know what we ought to pray for, the Spirit helps us in our weakness." (Romans 8:26) "I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind" (Corinthians 14:15) Prayer is a command of God, and is to be practiced both in public and in private; yes, such a command brings those that have the spirit of prayer, into great intimacy with God; and the prevailing prayer, will receive great things from God, both for the person that prayed, and for those that are prayed for. Prayer opens the heart of God, and is a means by which the empty soul is filled. By prayer the Christian can open his heart to God, as to a friend, and obtain fresh testimony of God's friendship to him. My purpose today will be to show you the very heart of prayer, without which, all your lifting up, of hands, eyes, and voices, will be to no avail. My outline will be as follows: - I will show you what true prayer is.
- I will show you what it is to pray in the Spirit.
- I will show what it is to pray with my spirit and with my mind.
- I will make application of what we have learned.

Dr. Moody Stuart, a great praying man of a past generation, once drew up a set of rules to guide him in his prayers. Among these rules is this one:"Pray till you pray."
...many of us close the meeting before the service is over.
The difference between praying till you quit and praying till you pray is illustrated by the American evangelist John Wesley Lee. He often likened a season of prayer to a church service, and insisted that many of us close the meeting before the service is over. He confessed that once he arose too soon from a prayer session and started down the street to take care of some pressing business. He had only gone a short distance when an inner voice reproached him. "Son," the voice seemed to say, "did you not pronounce the benediction before the meeting was ended?" He understood, and at once hurried back to the place of prayer where he tarried till the burden lifted and the blessing came down.Recommend this article... |

Heavenly Father, I bow in worship and praise before you.
I cover myself with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ as my protection. I surrender myself completely and unreservedly in every area of my life to You.
I take a stand against all the workings of Satan, that would hinder me in my prayer life. I address myself only to the True and Living God and refuse any involvement of Satan in my prayer. Satan, I command you, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, to leave my presence with all your demons.
I bring the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ between us. It surrounds me like a mighty wall that you cannot penetrate. Heavenly Father, I worship You and give You praise. I recognize that You are worthy to receive all glory and honor and praise. I renew my allegiance to You and pray that the blessed Holy Spirit would enable me in this time of prayer.
