In my experiences in writing over the years, I found that making an idea bank is very useful. I simply don`t remember all the idea`s on articles I get during one day.
Have you ever been walking somewhere, starting thinking at a specific subject like a Bible passage, a story you heard or something else. You are thinking that you need to remember this to the sermon on Sunday. But what happened so many times? When you get to the sermon preparation, you simply forget the key points in the idea, or you just forgot the whole idea/ thoughts.
What can you do, that actually will ..
..help you remember all your sermon/ teachings or idea`s, for the future writing and preaching?
I am often using a small notice book. In the old days I were using a piece of paper, I always kept in my pocket. But I had a tendency to loose the piece of paper, or it stayed in the pocket during laundry, so it were spoiled.
Whatever you use, make sure it is not easy to loose it or being spoiled in the laundry.
And don`t through it after you have used it. It will be a treasure for later sermons and articles in your future.
Another reason why you should write everything down that you want to communicate, either it is through preaching or articles, is simply that God has commanded us to write down what He tell us!
"Now therefore, write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for Me against the children of Israel." Deu 31:19
"Thus says the LORD: 'Write this man down..." Jer 22:30
"Son of man, write down the name of the day, this very day - the king of Babylon started his siege against Jerusalem this very day." Eze 24:2
"..Write [it] down in their sight, so that they may keep its.." Eze 43:11
You may not being used by writing down everything you want to teach/ preach. And you even "feel" that the inspiration of The Holy Spirit is not present when you preach something you have written down before the meeting. "It might be The Holy Spirit want something else" for that meeting.
Yes, of course this is possible. But why not be sure before the meeting what God wants for that meeting. God know what He want with that particular meeting, yes even before you the earth was created.
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations." Jer 1:5
But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. John 6:64
If God know before the meeting what He want to say, please take time in prayer, than He will reveal to you, His servant, what He will say. And when He do, write it up on paper, preferably in a note book.
Use two note books if you want. One as an idea bank, and one for sermons/ teaching. You will be amazed how many sermons and articles you get during a year.
