Job 1-3

john-obrienThe book of Job is the oldest book of the Bible. But that does not mean it is out of date. When you read it, sit down and get confortable and read it at one sitting. It will fascinate you. The Old Teatament has been divided according to content. There are five books of the Old Testament are commonly called the "Books of Poetry".

These are :

  • Job
  • Psalms
  • Proverbs
  • Ecclesiastes
  • Song of Solomon

These are not books of poetry. Rather the classification comes from the style of writing in Hebrew. These are “Poetic” stype of writing compared to the narriative stype of writing.

The power of influence

john-obrienInfluence is invisible, mysterious and powerful. Many people whom have had a powerful influence on my life, actions and thinking have never met me. But now, even 10, 20 or 30 years later their influence still clings to me. It pulls and it bonds.

The Vision of Leadership

john-obrienYou were chosen to be a leader of His people, because of your selfless yielding to His will. You received an idea, an vision. You were given the vision, you did not originate it. It came out of your relationship with God. This relationship was formed and shaped through prayer and communication with God. God is telling you what He wants done in His local church that you have been placed in a leadership role.

What is a Christian Nation?

john-obrienEver since I was a child, I have heard of Americas’ story. America was founded by individuals who came here to escape religious intolerance. From there it was related to me that America was founded on “Christian Principles” From there the equation is: America equals Christian equals the reason why American has the leading role in the world. It is not easy to put a definition on the term Christian nation that would be acceptable in logic and in fact. One person remarked: Why do we need to define any nation as “Christian”, that is “Christ like”?

The security of all Christian is the reliable, unshaken, dependable, Kingdom of God. Nothing else can or will match that.

"You are a very busy person with a lot to do. You don't have time to do all you need to do as it is." "You already believe in Jesus Christ. You already heard the Gospel." "Why should you spend time reading the Bible?"

First of all because reading the Bible, makes you get to know God better as His Child.

john.eltc124l.jpgThe Bible must be read and studied because it is God’s word to you. 2 Timothy 3:16 states that the Bible is "God-breathed." Do you want to know your purpose in life? From where did you come? Is there life after death for you? After death, what? What is heaven and what are the entrance requirements’? Why does God permit the evil in the world? How can you make "good things" happening for you, and your fellow man?

Every newborn baby need food to grow.

To grow in your spiritual life, and to grow as a Christian, you need spiritual food.

DEAR DR. GRAHAM: I have friends who say I need Jesus in order to be happy, but I'm happy the way I am. Why should I bother with God? He'd probably just make me stop some of the things I enjoy doing. -- M.T.

DEAR M.T: Although you may not have thought of it this way, I hope you'll be grateful you have friends who care about you this much. They see a side of life you don't see, and they want you to share in it.

Let me suggest three reasons why you need God. First, only Christ can give true meaning to your life. From what you say, you are living for one thing right now: to have a good time. For a while, that may seem to satisfy; the Bible says we sometimes may "enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time" (Hebrews 11:25). But don't be deceived. Eventually, you will get bored, or unable to enjoy them -- and what then? God put you here for a reason, and life's greatest joy comes from knowing His plan for our lives.

You also need Christ to help you every day. How else will you meet life's disappointments and heartaches? How else will you know which way to go when you have decisions to make? Where else will you go to find the inner strength to change your life and do what is right?

Finally, you need Christ for eternity. Someday we will all die and face God -- and you are not prepared. But God loves you, and Christ died on the cross to take away your sins. Don't turn your back on Him, but by a simple prayer of faith confess your sins and ask Him into your life. Jesus' words are true: "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10).

TASHKENT, UZBEKISTAN (ANS) -- Two members of God's Love Pentecostal Church spent ten days in prison in June after being found guilty of violating laws on religion and "illegal" religious teaching, Protestant sources told a western news service.

In a separate case, Baptist Sharofat Allamova was held for four days in mid-June after a late-night check on a bus taking her back to her hometown of Urgench revealed she had Christian books and films in her bag.

Now back at home, Allamova faces criminal prosecution for violating the laws on religion with a maximum sentence if convicted of three years' imprisonment.

Hom os ex ual ity (sorry: rewrite because of filter) came easy to me, because I was already weak.

My mom died when I was 19. My father had died when I was 13. At an early age, I was already confused about who I was and how I felt about others.

My confusion about "desire" and the fact that I noticed I was "attracted" to guys made me put myself into the "gay" category at age 14. At age 20, I came out as gay to everybody else around me.

At age 22, I became an editor of the first magazine aimed at a young, ga y male audience. It bordered on po rno graphy (rewrite because of filter) in its photographic content, but I figured I could use it as a platform to bigger and better things.

Sure enough, Young Gay America came around. It was meant to fill the void that the other magazine I'd worked for had created – namely, anything not-so-po rno graphic, aimed at the population of young, gay Americans. Young Gay America took off.
